When and where should we meet for my photo shoot?
I'm an on-location photographer, so we'll choose the best location(s) to suit your needs and personality. That means we might end up at the park, in your living room, at a junkyard, or most any place else.
If we choose an outdoor location, the best time of day to shoot portraits is 1-2 hours before sunset, when the light is warm and golden. This warm light lends a soft, healthy look to subjects. If we shoot indoors, the best time of day is when the light is brightest.
When do I pay you?
$300 of your session fee is due to book, and the remaining $375 is due when we shoot. You can pay via check, cash, or electronic invoice. I can also accept credit cards in person when we shoot via my phone (very fancy!).
What should I wear for my photo shoot?
You should wear something that makes you look like you. In other words, wear clothes that aren't too far outside of how you normally dress.
I also suggest simple, classic clothes that aren't too pattern-busy (unless that's just how you dress most of the time). Last, I don't suggest you try and "match" the other members of the photo shoot.
When will I get my photos?
If you agree, I often post sneak peeks from your photo session on Facebook 3-7 days after your shoot, so "Like" BWP on Facebook, and you can view these images.
Within 10 days of your shoot, your private online gallery will be posted--and you can download your high-resolution files immediately! Your gallery, complete with a slideshow, will be up to view and share for 5 days. Signature add-ons, such as mini accordion brag books and collages can also be ordered via your online gallery.
And, just so you have your files all backed-up and tidy, I'll mail you a fancy USB of your images along with a few signature extras.
Do you sell prints of my images?
Quite simply, most people want to keep their images forever and print them at any size. That's why I only sell digital files and custom products you can't find just anywhere, like mini accordion brag books and custom-designed collages, etc. Digital files may seem expensive, but because you can print your images anywhere and share them to your heart's content, they are very valuable little things, aren't they?
If you're unsure about how to order prints with the disc you receive, a PDF document with instructions for easy printing will be included on the complimentary USB drive that will be mailed to you.
When is the best time to take pictures of my newborn?
4-14 days post birth. At this time, newborns are easily posed and can sleep through most of a photo session (which is preferred!). Newborn sessions are conducted in-home and should be relaxed and fun (with breaks for feedings, etc.).
Why do you prefer natural lighting?
Taking portraits outside or in a client's home (granted the natural light is ample) can make for more genuine portraits.
Can you take my portrait outside in the winter?
Of course! In fact, winter portraits yield some of the most creative, fun, and beautiful shots. As always--and as your mother told you--dress for the weather, and you'll be fine.
Can you take a picture of my dog?
Sure thing. I love dogs, and I'm not scared of any-a-one (unless you say I should be).
OMG! I'm so fat! Can you make me look skinny?
Probably not. But, I can do slight re-touching to remove a blemish or a cut or to smooth dark patches here and there. Above and beyond this, I believe that lifestyle portraits should be natural and genuine, and that means I won't be giving you any digital nose jobs or changing the color of your eyes.
Do you shoot weddings?
I shoot most everything else, including commercial projects, pets, newborns, engagement sessions, children, families, senior portraits, and even select events.
If you'd like me to refer you to a talented area wedding photographer, just let me know.
